Sealants
One of our pediatric dentistry services is the application of dental sealants.
A dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating that is painted onto the chewing surfaces of your child’s teeth to prevent decay.
The main thought behind placing sealants is to keep teeth decay-free by sealing off the deep grooves and pits of permanent posterior teeth during the periods of adolescence and teen years.

At Quince Orchard Dental Care, our practice is a complete health practice, which means that while our specialty is oral health, we consider your overall health in everything we do. A healthy mouth is part of a child’s overall health. Children need strong, healthy teeth to chew their food, speak and smile. Your child’s teeth also help give his/her face its shape while keeping space in the jaw for adult teeth. It has also been shown in various studies that healthy mouths and smiles give young people confidence in their social interactions. One of our pediatric dentistry services is the application of dental sealants.
A dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating that is painted onto the chewing surfaces of your child’s teeth to prevent decay. They act as a barrier to protect cavity-prone areas, and are sometimes used to cover deep pits and grooves in other teeth. Sealing a tooth is fast and easy, and the tooth surface will remain protected from decay as long as the sealant remains intact. Sometimes, reapplication is necessary, but generally, sealants hold up well under the force of normal chewing.
The main thought behind placing sealants is to keep teeth decay-free by sealing off the deep grooves and pits of permanent posterior teeth during the periods of adolescence and teen years. By so doing, we are ensuring that the teeth remain decay-free even if the sealant comes out later.
