At Quince Orchard Dental Care, we believe that a healthy mouth translates to a healthy life. Our practice centers around the provision of high quality, professional and personalized dental services from our friendly, competent dentists. Whether you’re a child, teenager or an adult, you need strong, healthy teeth to chew your food, speak and smile. We are here to take care of your best feature, your teeth, whether natural or synthetic.

Periodontics is the branch of our dental practice that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of problems that affect the gums and other supporting tissues of the teeth, and the placement of dental implants. Our qualified and experienced periodontist and support staff are here to help you transform your smile. One of the methods that we use to get you the healthy mouth you deserve is scaling and root planing.

Scaling and root planing is a deep cleaning below the gumline used to treat gum disease.
Scaling involves the removal of all the plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) above and below the gum line, making sure to clean all the way down to the bottom of the pocket. Dental scaling occurs with manual hand instruments, ultrasonic instruments or both. This is usually followed by root planing. Root planing involves detailed scaling of the root surface to decrease inflammation of the gum tissue. We will scale the root surface to smooth out rough target areas, eliminating plaque and biofilm development in the process. Dental scaling and root planing usually takes two visits but can take 4 visits based on the level of oral disease in the mouth.

If you have periodontal disease your gum tissue tends to be sensitive and diseased. At Quince Orchard Dental Specialist local anesthesia is usually administered to numb the tissue. If your teeth are sensitive before or after the professional cleaning, it may be recommended that you use a desensitizing paste to provide you with sensitivity relief. Root planing and scaling is one of the most effective ways to treat gum disease before it becomes severe. If you maintain good oral hygiene after the procedure, the progression of gum disease should stop. And your gums will heal and become firm and pink again.

The aim of our periodontic practice is to optimize the health and function of not just your teeth but the area surrounding your teeth, i.e. your jaw and gums. Our periodontist and our highly trained dental team are dedicated to ensuring that you have the best periodontal care in the most comfortable setting. Through the use of advanced and appropriate dental technology, we guarantee the highest level of periodontal treatment and diagnostics, to produce the finest, most stable results. We encourage you to come in to our office to find out how we can help you achieve the healthy, beautiful smile you deserve.
