The “pulp” of your child’s tooth cannot be seen with the naked eye but can get damaged.
Therapy of this part of the tooth is aimed at repairing and maintaining the integrity and health of the oral tissue.
At Quince Orchard Dental Care, our practice is a complete health practice, which means that while our specialty is oral health, we consider your overall health in everything we do. A healthy mouth is part of a child’s overall health. Children need strong, healthy teeth to chew their food, speak and smile. Your child’s teeth also help give his/her face its shape while keeping space in the jaw for adult teeth. It has also been shown in various studies that healthy mouths and smiles give young people confidence in their social interactions. One of our pediatric dentistry services is Pulp therapy.
The “pulp” of your child’s tooth cannot be seen with the naked eye but can get damaged. Therapy of this part of the tooth is aimed at repairing and maintaining the integrity and health of the oral tissue. Action needs to be taken to restore the integrity of your child’s primary tooth if it has extensive decay or has been damaged by trauma, and to prevent infection from spreading to surrounding teeth. We first take an X-ray to assess the extent of the infection, then we recommend one of two options: pulpotomy or pulpectomy. The difference between the two is if the pulpal tissue is removed in the crown only (pulpotomy) or in both the crown and root (pulpectomy). Afterwards, a crown is usually placed.
We are dedicated to giving your child an enjoyable and fun experience at the dentist. Our pediatric dentists, Dr. Lewis and Dr. Abdillahi both have extensive experience with kids of all ages and are experts at helping our little patients and their parents feel at ease. Our pediatric dentists have been practicing for many years and have some of the best reputations around. They are also open to treating patients outside of the office, regularly visit schools and nurseries as requested. Dr. Lewis, in particular, also services a number of special needs kids and patients including some kids that are too young to be treated in our office.
After the appointment we realize it's important to reward them for a job well done and encourage future visits, that’s why we have our prize tokens and a prize box for them to enjoy on their way home. Ask around, we are a very popular office for children and we invite you to bring your family into our caring and kid friendly environment.
