Oral Surgery is the branch of our dental practice that deals with the treatment of diseases and defects of your face and jaw; including the hard and soft tissue in your mouth and head. Oral Surgery is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of different diseases, injuries and defects around the head, face, jaw and neck. Moderate to difficult extractions, including wisdom teeth extractions, and the placement of dental implants, cover the most common oral and maxillofacial services. Our qualified and experienced endodontist and support staff are here to help you transform your smile. One of the methods that we use to get you the healthy mouth you deserve is Bone Grafts.

A bone graft is a surgical transplantation of your bone tissue; used to repair bones that have been damaged from trauma. Many dental procedures, such as dental implant placement, require that the bone be as close to its original dimension and position as possible for optimal results. Also, the jaw and other facial bones support the skin and muscle that are responsible for our outward cosmetic appearance. Without the support of the underlying bone, our faces can look prematurely aged.

For dental implants to be successful, the jawbone must have enough bone to support them. Tooth loss often leads to more loss of bone over time. If the bone under your gum is not tall enough, not wide enough or both, you will need a procedure to add bone to your jaw before implants can be placed.

Bone augmentation is a term that describes a variety of procedures used to "build" bone so that dental implants can be placed. These procedures typically involve grafting (adding) bone or bone like materials to the jaw. The graft can be your own bone or processed bone. If you don't like the idea of having bone removed from your body to be placed in your jaw, our dentists can use synthetic materials, bone from other animals (such as cows) or human bone.
