On July 31st, 2019, Quince Orchard Dental Care warmly welcomed Jessica Kimmel to our team. As one of our newest Pediatric Dental Hygienists, Jessica has certainly added a new spark of energy and light to our practice. She graduated with her first Bachelor’s Degree in General Science from Pittsburg State University in Kansas City. She then moved to Maryland with her husband to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Baltimore County. She spent 5 years teaching and although it was a great experience, she decided that teaching  was not for her and she returned to the science field. She went on to attain an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Allegany College of Maryland. Jessica is certain that she is now where she truly belongs!

Jessica became a new mom in April, 2019 (many congratulations to her!) and after returning from maternity leave, she applied to our practice. She had a great interview and now that she has officially joined us, the rapport with the rest of our team and our patients is amazing! Jessica noted that it was the values that Quince Orchard Dental Care holds that drew her to the practice. For us, it is never about the numbers and the dollar value but rather, the high level of quality service we aim to produce each time, even if that means spending a few extra minutes with a patient. Jessica had her mind made up after seeing how well our patients are treated.

Her professional life does look very promising as both herself and Kayla Sisti (the other new Dental Hygienist) both bring enthusiasm and compassion to their work here.  With their help, Dr. Lewis and Dr. Abdillahi would be able to focus a bit more on the restoration side of things and the flow has certainly been much smoother. Speaking of positive change, Jessica fondly recalls a patient interaction which she is most proud of that has always stuck with her. She had a patient who had not been to the dentist in 20 plus years because of his fear of the dentist. This led to his dental health severely declining. When he finally visited, she was able to calm him down enough  to perform the procedures required. After that visit, his view of the dentist changed and he felt comfortable enough to keep his future appointments. She noted that sometimes all it takes is a gentle touch and kind words to change someone’s mind.

This caring, energetic and outgoing professional was moulded by the support of her loving parents. They were always there for her especially through her years of studying. The support of her parents is a trait that she would like to emulate to her 3 months old daughter, Kinley and her husband Joe, as she believes in valuing family. This little family along with their two dogs, loves the water as they enjoy spending time on the Potomac River and going to the beach. At winter time you can often catch her skiing. One of the surprising things about Jessica is that she is originally from Kansas and when she tells people that, she is usually bombarded with questions about the midwest. A popular question asked is if she has ever seen a tornado. The answer to that question is yes, she’s seen quite a few!

Her days at the office are often quite exciting as witnessing a tornado. She loves interacting with her patients as no day is the same. Her little patients make her days very interesting and at the end of the day, her main goal is to make them not afraid to come into the office. Jessica and the rest of our team would love to make your child’s dental visit a positive one! Schedule an appointment with us here to make going to the dentist fun again!
