Meet The Amazing New Members Of The Quince Orchard Dental Family!

Quince Orchard Dental Care is elated to introduce one of the newest addition to our family, Kayla Sisti RDH, BS. Kayla joined our practice as a Pediatric Dental Hygienist on August 7, 2019 and comes to us with a wealth of experience. In 2013 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Salisbury University and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2015. Since graduating, Kayla has worked purely in the pediatric dental hygiene field and has 4 years of experience under her belt.
Choosing to work with Quince Orchard Dental Care was a no brainer. The values she holds dear as a professional, was in perfect alignment with what she noted our practice to be. She loves how personal and friendly the other doctors and staff are with our patients and each other. Integrity and genuine care are the cornerstones of everything we do, which are values that resonates with Kayla. She believes that it’s really about taking your time and caring for your patients that makes all the difference. In addition to having parallel views on delivering quality service to patients, Kayla brings her plethora of experience and knowledge to the table. She is well versed in oral myology which she will be incorporating at the practice to better serve the needs of our patients.
Children often look up to various family members as a source of inspiration and young Kayla was no different. Her charming Aunt, Dr. Choti Jahnigen was a pediatric dentist and she sparked Kayla’s interest in dentistry. Dr. Jahnigen has been a great helping hand in Kayla being able to realize her dream and for that, she is very grateful. To Kayla, this is more than a job, it’s her passion. Being able to make a significant difference in the lives of her pediatric patients is something she is most proud of. Some children come to the dentist’s office very fearful, most times due to prior bad experiences and being able to flip their frowns upside down is very rewarding.
Since we are on the topic of children, Kayla and her husband are expecting their first child! Kayla will be a new mom to a bouncing baby boy in November. Doing her favorite activities like hiking with her husband and crossfit have been put on hold as they are busy preparing to welcome their bundle of joy. Her baby boy will be in good hands just as Kayla was when she was growing up. Her father Mike Aiosa, was responsible for instilling the importance of family and how hard work always pays off. Her grandmother Shirley Aiosa, stressed the importance of taking care of others and putting others before yourself, a trait that undoubtedly makes Kayla an excellent dental hygienist! Over the years she has learned the value of always taking ownership of her actions whether she would have done something right or wrong.
If you have a bucket list, you know how exciting it is to cross an item off. Kayla was able to scratch off ‘visit Hawaii’ as she visited the beautiful island for her honeymoon. Hawaii did not disappoint as it was everything and more she expected it to be and she would love to revisit. So next stop, Australia! This beautiful country is also on her bucket list as she had always wanted to travel there since she was young. So the next time you visit our office, be sure to say Aloha to Kayla! Our dedicated dental hygienist is guaranteed to give you 110% great service. To schedule your next visit to us click here, Kayla and our other staff are happy to be of service!
On July 31st, 2019, Quince Orchard Dental Care warmly welcomed Jessica Kimmel to our team. As one of our newest Pediatric Dental Hygienists, Jessica has certainly added a new spark of energy and light to our practice. She graduated with her first Bachelor’s Degree in General Science from Pittsburg State University in Kansas City. She then moved to Maryland with her husband to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Baltimore County. She spent 5 years teaching and although it was a great experience, she decided that teaching was not for her and she returned to the science field. She went on to attain an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Allegany College of Maryland. Jessica is certain that she is now where she truly belongs!
Jessica became a new mom in April, 2019 (many congratulations to her!) and after returning from maternity leave, she applied to our practice. She had a great interview and now that she has officially joined us, the rapport with the rest of our team and our patients is amazing! Jessica noted that it was the values that Quince Orchard Dental Care holds that drew her to the practice. For us, it is never about the numbers and the dollar value but rather, the high level of quality service we aim to produce each time, even if that means spending a few extra minutes with a patient. Jessica had her mind made up after seeing how well our patients are treated.
Her professional life does look very promising as both herself and Kayla Sisti (the other new Dental Hygienist) both bring enthusiasm and compassion to their work here. With their help, Dr. Lewis and Dr. Abdillahi would be able to focus a bit more on the restoration side of things and the flow has certainly been much smoother. Speaking of positive change, Jessica fondly recalls a patient interaction which she is most proud of that has always stuck with her. She had a patient who had not been to the dentist in 20 plus years because of his fear of the dentist. This led to his dental health severely declining. When he finally visited, she was able to calm him down enough to perform the procedures required. After that visit, his view of the dentist changed and he felt comfortable enough to keep his future appointments. She noted that sometimes all it takes is a gentle touch and kind words to change someone’s mind.
This caring, energetic and outgoing professional was moulded by the support of her loving parents. They were always there for her especially through her years of studying. The support of her parents is a trait that she would like to emulate to her 3 months old daughter, Kinley and her husband Joe, as she believes in valuing family. This little family along with their two dogs, loves the water as they enjoy spending time on the Potomac River and going to the beach. At winter time you can often catch her skiing. One of the surprising things about Jessica is that she is originally from Kansas and when she tells people that, she is usually bombarded with questions about the midwest. A popular question asked is if she has ever seen a tornado. The answer to that question is yes, she’s seen quite a few!
Her days at the office are often quite exciting as witnessing a tornado. She loves interacting with her patients as no day is the same. Her little patients make her days very interesting and at the end of the day, her main goal is to make them not afraid to come into the office. Jessica and the rest of our team would love to make your child’s dental visit a positive one! Schedule an appointment with us here to make going to the dentist fun again!
