At Quince Orchard Dental Care, our practice is a complete health practice, which means that while our specialty is oral health, we consider your overall health in everything we do. A healthy mouth is part of a child’s overall health. Children need strong, healthy teeth to chew their food, speak and smile. Your child’s teeth also help give his/her face its shape while keeping space in the jaw for adult teeth. It has also been shown in various studies that healthy mouths and smiles give young people confidence in their social interactions. One of our pediatric dentistry services is the provision of stainless steel crowns.
Stainless steel crowns are considered a good option for saving a primary tooth until the permanent tooth comes in. Where they provide the same function, a white resin filling is more likely to fail than a stainless steel crown. Stainless steel crowns are usually used following a pulpotomy or pulpectomy, or where necessary in cases of teeth with developmental defects, large carious lesions or fractured teeth with multiple surfaces.
They are considered a good option for saving a primary tooth until the permanent tooth erupts to take its place because they are very durable. If possible, keeping a primary tooth is usually better than extracting it, and the tooth can be restored with a stainless steel crown during one appointment. When cemented onto an existing tooth, crowns fully cover the portion of the tooth found above the gumline. Essentially, the crown now becomes the tooth’s new outer surface and just like other teeth, a crown must be brushed and flossed.
We are dedicated to giving your child an enjoyable and fun experience at the dentist. Our pediatric dentists, Dr. Lewis and Dr. Abdillahi both have extensive experience with kids of all ages and are experts at helping our little patients and their parents feel at ease. Our pediatric dentists have been practicing for many years and have some of the best reputations around. They are also open to treating patients outside of the office, regularly visit schools and nurseries as requested. Dr. Lewis, in particular, also services a number of special needs kids and patients including some kids that are too young to be treated in our office.
After the appointment we realize it's important to reward them for a job well done and encourage future visits, that’s why we have our prize tokens and a prize box for them to enjoy on their way home. Ask around, we are a very popular office for children and we invite you to bring your family into our caring and kid friendly environment.
